delaware poker joins nevadaDelaware Poker sites will soon join with Nevada to share player pools, this is expected to increase the amount of games available with more players at the tables.

The new partnership will be a step in the right direction as the current set-up of state-by-state separation was not attracting enough players.

Nevada and Delaware governors Brian Sandoval and Jack Markell signed the deal this week to form a partnership for online poker in the two states.

Both states will still have their separate gambling laws and will only share player pools at regulated and approved online poker sites.

Delaware Poker Joins Nevada for Shared Players

The Governors of the states signed the poker agreement on Tuesday, 25th February, 2014, players will soon be able to log-in and play against players from other states for the first time in regulated poker history.

The partnership was needed as both Nevada and Delaware poker online were not financially viable enough to be separated into state-by-state categories.

Governor of Delaware, Jack Markell comments:

“The multi-state internet gaming agreement the Governor Sandoval and I will sign today, will be the first of it’s kind in the nation. It’s the natural next step to ensure that our gaming technologies are at the cutting edge. Today this is an internet poker agreement between Delaware and Nevada, but we know that more games and more states means more players which means more revenue to participating states and that’s why we want this agreement to be flexible enough to expand”

Governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval comments:

“This agreement also recognizes the powerful potential that can be realized through multi-state collaboration, the kind of multi-state partnership this agreement exemplifies allows states to share the expertise they have gained through their own unique institutions in regulatory mechanisms. I consider this a land mark intersection in the road of gaming history.”

Regulated Poker Sites

New Jersey poker sites are leading the way in terms of online poker traffic for regulated poker sites, if all states were to share player pools it would be a major boost to online poker in the USA.

Online poker in Nevada is currently represented by three regulated poker operators: Ultimate Poker (Station Casinos), WSOP (Caesars Interactive Entertainment) and Real Gaming (South Point Casino).

Delaware poker sites are powered by 888 in partnership with three casinos that share player pools: Delaware Park Online, Dover Downs Poker and Harrington Gaming Online.

The online presence of the Delaware poker sites is very basic when compared to what US players were used to prior to Black Friday.

To increase traffic they should consider better promotions and operating as online poker sites instead of an addition of online gaming added to their brick & mortar casino sites.

USA poker still has a long way to go to be attractive and viable enough for online poker players, combining player pools is one of the first steps.
