Phil Laak wins WSOPE eventPhil Laak has won his first WSOP bracelet in the opening event of the WSOPE, Laak has achieved almost everything in poker but was lacking a bracelet win. Phil Laak wins WSOPE event, he cashed more than £170,000 for his first place win in the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe event #1 in London beating Andrew Pantling who has chip leader for most of the tournament.

With his arm still in a cast from his recent ATV accident where he almost lost his eye and broke several bones, Laak has a new out look on life since his accident, his red mohawk is something he always wanted to have, he also plans to learn how to play blues on the piano.

Some might think the Unabomber hit his head really hard in the crash or he is going through a midlife crisis one thing is certain it sure has not affected his poker game.

World Series of Poker Europe bracelet for Phil Laak

Of all the things Phil Laak has achieved in Poker, winning a WSOP bracelet was not one of them until now. The Unabomber has ticked a bracelet win off his list of things to do which also includes a breaking the Guinness world record for the most hours spent playing poker for 4 days straight at the Bellagio Casino racking up a 115 hours. He is also known for his appearances in several televised High Stakes Poker games and dating movie actress Jennifer Tilly who also has achieved alot in her poker career including a WSOP bracelet.

Phil Laak victory will certainly be one to celebrate he has come close to winning a bracelet, back in 2005 he finished 2nd in a WSOP event where Johnny Chan beat him and won his 10th WSOP bracelet.

The opening event of the 2010 WSOPE will certainly be one to remember for the Unabomber.

Phil Laak wins WSOPE event

Andrew Pantling was chip leader from day one right up until the final table and Head-ups against Phil Laak. The chip leader position changed between the two a few times and Laak took the lead, with the final hand Laak moved allin with K5 off against Pantling Ah9h with two hearts on the flop Pantling was the favorite to win until a 5 was drawn on the turn and a 10 on the river and no heart to complete his nut flush draw.
