WSOP 2012The WSOP 2010 Main Event is officially the 2nd biggest live poker tournament of all time beating last years attendance of 6,494 players registered. The final figures have not yet been calculated but so far there have been more players registered than last years event, the worldwide rescission seems to have not affected the main event registration.

The biggest attendance was recorded at the 2006 WSOP which had 8,773 players entering the main event, the biggest live poker event in the world. That year the prize pool was a staggering $82,512,162 and the event was won by Jamie Gold who won more than $12 million for his first place finish.

Update – 7,319 players registered for this years main event making the total prize pool $68,798,600

WSOP 2010 Main Event Update

2010 WSOP Day 1A

Day 1A of the World Series of Poker started with PokerStars pro and WSOP 2004 main event winner Greg Raymer announcing the shuffle up and deal as 1,125 players entered got ready to battle it out on Day 1A. By the end of the day some notable pros eliminated include Andy Black,  Mike Matusow and Greg Raymer.

2010 WSOP Day 1B

Day 1B had the dealer of the year announcing the shuffle up and deal as the player field of 1,489 entrants start out hoping to survive Day 1B. Many top poker pros where sent to the rail before the end of the day which includes Erick Lindgren, Joe Sebok, Bertrand Grospellier, Jennifer Tilly, Justin Bonomo, Jamie Gold, Liv Boeree.

2010 WSOP Day 1C

Joe Cada WSOP 2009 main event winner had the honor of announcing shuffle up and deal the day started out with 2,314 players entered making it officially the 2nd biggest live poker tournament in history. A total of 4,928 players registered for Day 1A-C and 1,566 + and counting have already registered for Day 1D.

Top Poker pros eliminated by the end of Day 1c include Tom Dwan, Phil Hellmuth, Scott Ian, Jeff Madsen, Vicky Coren, Huck Seed and Men Nguyen.

PokerStars David Williams, was among the chip leaders by the end of Day 1C, he was also added to Team PokerStars as one of the latest poker pros on the team. Six years ago he finished 2nd in the WSOP 2004 main event after being beaten Heads-up against Greg Raymer.

2010 WSOP Day 1D

Registration closes with 7319 players entered into the 2010 WSOP Main Event the total prize pool is $68,798,600 with $8,944,138 for the main event winner, 747 places will be paid positions. Eliminations for Day 1D include: Tony Hachem, Joe Cassidy, John Juanda, Phil Gordon and Joe Hachem.

2010 WSOP Day 2A

The remaining players from Day 1A and Day 1C will start out on Day 2A, Blinds now include antes. Eliminations include: Bryan Devonshire, Mike Sexton, Liz Lieu, James Akenhead, Sara Underwood and Dennis Phillips.

2010 WSOP Day 2B

Day 2B starts with Full Tilt Poker pro Phil Ivey being sent to the rail early when he hit a set with his pocket queens on the turn and his allin was called by his opponent who had pocket kings with a king drawn on the river.

Other eliminations include: the legendary Doyle Brunson who has played 38 of the 41 main events to date earning a total of 10 bracelets, also on the rail is Andy Bloch, J.C. Tran, Darvin Moon, Chris Ferguson, Shannon Elizabeth and Todd Brunson.

2010 WSOP Day 3

Day 3 starts with just more than 2000 players remaining some early eliminations include: Scott Seiver, Chris Moneymaker, David Williams, Erik Seidel, Phil Laak and Lacey Jones.

PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu and 2009 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Cada were also sent to the rail just before the dinner break.

More eliminations Kara Scott, Roland de Wolfe, Vanessa Rousso and Kenny Tran
