Greg Merson is the 2012 WSOP Main Event Champion and is 2012 Player of the Year.

The battle continued on Day 9 where there is $8.5 million and a WSOP bracelet for first place prize, players will start Day 9 with the following starting stacks:

  3. Jake Balsiger – 46,875,000 chips

 2012 WSOP Main Event Day 8

2012 WSOP Main Event Day 8 concluded after just 7 ½ hours of play, the final three players will return for Day 9, the final day of the World Series of Poker.

The three US players all have there eyes on the $8.5 million first place prize and the most prestigious trophy in poker a World Series of Poker bracelet. Greg Merson will have the lead going into the final day of the 2012 WSOP Main Event.

Steve Gee was the first player eliminated within the first 30 minutes of play, by Russell Thomas

Robert Salaburu

Robert Salaburu was sent to the rail in 8th place after calling Jesse Sylvia all-in shove pre-flop.

Michael Esposito

Michael Esposito was the next rail victim when Greg Merson ended his run in the Main Event.

Andras Koroknai

Andras Koroknai, the only non-US player on the final table, failed to become the first Hungarian bracelet winner. Greg Merson eliminated Koroknai in 6th place.

Jeremy Ausmus

Jeremy Ausmus was the short stack coming into the final table, his survival skills ended abruptly in a tricky hand against Jesse Sylvia.

Russell Thomas

Day 8 ended when Russell Thomas hit the rail in 4th place, Thomas was eliminated by Jake Balsiger when both players were all-in pre-flop.
