There were many new records and achievements like the youngest player to win the World Series of Poker, the largest online poker pot and tournament. Phil Ivey makes it to the November Nine after winning his 7th WSOP bracelet.

High Stakes player Tom Dwan became a Team Full Tilt Poker member after many hours of high stakes action in the Durrrr challenge. Isildur1 the unknown Swedish high stakes player ends the year on a bad note.

Twenty-one year Joseph Cada is the youngest player to win a World Series of Poker main event bracelet beating Darvin Moon in the heads-up stage of the 40th anniversary WSOP event which had 6,494 players participating.

Phil Ivey not only made the final table of the WSOP 2009 main event 2009, he won two WSOP bracelets ($2.500 No Limit Deuce-to-Seven Lowball event) and ($2.500 Omaha-Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo event) proving that he is one of the greatest poker players of all time.

4.  Largest Online Poker pot ever $1,356,946.50

High Stakes players Patrik Antonius and Isildur1 set a new record for the largest online poker pot while playing  $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha on Full Tilt Poker. Patrik Antonius won a $1,356,946.50 Pot with his five-high straight.

5.  Guinness World Record Poker Stars

On the 27th December 2009 – PokerStars hosted an uncapped tournament with a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. The tournament had 149,196 players registered, a drastic improvement of more than double their previous Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament twice in one year.

Tom Dwan aka Durrrr challenges Patrik Antonius to play four $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha or No Limit Hold’em heads up tables consecutively over a minimum of 50,000 poker hands.

Should the contender end up ahead of Durrrr after 50,000 hands he will win the challenge and take down the $1.5 million side bet prize should the contestant loose he would be out of $500,000 plus all money won during the sessions.
